Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

The boxer had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the passing of his two dear friends.”

This update on his health comes as the global fight fans shared its support for the fighter in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
